What You Need To Know About Intellectual Property

May 18 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Intellectual Property (IP) includes the legal structures that protect creative output.  Emerging companies established businesses, and investors all rely on IP rights to protect their investments, revenue streams, and results of their creative pursuits.  Whether you are starting a new venture or managing ongoing operations and introducing a new product, it is critical to evaluate and secure your IP rights sooner rather than later. In this workshop, we will summarize basic forms of IP rights: patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets. In addition, we will explore common IP issues you may be confronted with in developing new products and services such as:

  • What happens if you sell your product or publicize it before securing IP rights?
  • Why do you need a non-disclosure agreement in place when soliciting help from potential partners or suppliers?
  • When do I need to consider a trademark strategy in view of your branding strategy?
  • What are key points to take into account when hiring a software developer (or any contractor that is working for you)?

Cost: $20
***This workshop is sponsored! This sponsorship is giving a limited number of tickets away to attendees for free. Use Code ABOUTIP when checking out to receive your free ticket.
