Kiva 101: Community-driven 0% Financing

Jun 14, 2016 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

An interest-free loan for up to $10,000 may seem too good to be true, but thanks to a forward-thinking nonprofit that specializes in microfinance around the world, these loans are now available to small businesses in the US.

Join us for a workshop on the ins and outs of Kiva and how you can leverage this innovative platform to access up to $10K in 0% financing and join a supportive, passionate community of entrepreneurs.

In this workshop, you will learn about:

  • Kiva and how to apply

  • Kiva compared to other crowdfunding platforms

  • Kiva vs. other funding mechanisms across the country

  • How to best prepare your business for funding through Kiva

About Kiva

Kiva is a nonprofit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. Since it’s founding in 2005, Kiva has been a leader in microfinancing in impoverished communities around the world. As a compassionate global citizen, you can lend to entrepreneurs across the globe looking to start new businesses.  Two years ago, Kiva thought that a slightly modified financing model might work in the US, especially with the popularity of online crowdfunding platforms, such as Kickstarter and Indiegogo. Their US model was again crowdfunded loans, but with 0% interest and a social underwriting backbone. This summer, after a successful beta, Kiva is combining its US and international models into one unified platform!
