Excel Basics

Excel allows a user to present data in a meaningful way to others and can be used to compile data in one central location. Join us for the first of four courses that will take participants from Excel basics to more advanced Excel functionality. During this course participants will learn the basics of Excel in order to become more efficient in producing meaningful spreadsheets, visually analyzing data and compiling data. Participants of this course will also receive documentation of the functionality discussed during the course which can be used as a reference later on.

Where possible, participants should bring a Windows laptop with Excel 2007 or later. Mac laptops will run a version of Excel however there may be drastic differences.

Excel functionality you’ll learn:

  • What pieces make up an Excel spreadsheet?
  • Formatting & auto-sizing of cells, rows & columns
  • Freezing cells
  • Shortcuts
  • Basic formulas
    • What is a formula?
    • How to create a formula
  • How to print a spreadsheet effectively

About The Instructor:

Melissa Binder graduated from Keene State College in 2012 with a degree in Sociology and has worked at C&S Wholesale Grocers for the last five years. Melissa’s most recent role at C&S is the Supervisor of the Learning & Development team which focuses on training new team members, existing team members as well as helping everyone grow and develop in their professional careers. Outside of the office Melissa enjoys painting, reading and spending time with friends and family.
